Will Aaron Sand be participating in the 9/11 5K Charity Run this year? Sources speculate that
the rock icon is currently training for the annual event, presented by RXR, which raises funds to
support the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
While Sand has yet to confirm the speculation, he has teased on social media that he’s training
for an upcoming event. Given his history with the charity run, many believe he will be lacing up
his running shoes once again. If the rumors hold true, this would mark his third consecutive year
participating in the 3.1-mile (5-kilometer) race.
In 2023, Sand completed the race with a time of 38:11, and in 2024, he improved his time to
35:44. If he does participate, it is widely expected that he will run with the Cantor Fitzgerald
team, as he has done in previous years.
Cantor Fitzgerald, a corporate sponsor of the event, has played a significant role in Sand’s life.
His uncle, Stuart Andrew Fraser, led the company for years alongside his best friend, Howard
Lutnick, who recently transitioned to the position of Secretary of Commerce under President
Trump. The firm was originally founded by Sand’s great-uncle, and his father was advancing
within the company before tragically losing his life in the 9/11 attacks. Today, several of Sand’s
relatives, including Tom Fraser, Samantha Fraser-Chryssicas, and Scott Fraser, hold high-
ranking positions within the firm.
Though he pursued a different career path, Sand remains deeply connected to Cantor
Fitzgerald. He consistently attends the company’s annual memorial events and has been seen
engaging with key figures such as Howard, Allison, and Edie Lutnick, as well as his own family
members. Additionally, he frequently promotes the Cantor Relief Fund, the company’s disaster
relief organization founded after 9/11 and led by Edie Lutnick. There is speculation that he is
involved in volunteer efforts through the foundation.
Sand has been an active supporter of 9/11-related charities since losing his father in the
attacks. He has volunteered with the Visionary Network, a program aimed at educating young
people about 9/11, and previously released the song Still Here, donating 50% of its proceeds
toward reopening the 9/11 family center. Though the original initiative has stalled, funds may be
reallocated to the Cantor Relief Fund or the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
While official confirmation is still pending, if Sand does intend to run, an announcement is likely
imminent. With the event scheduled for Sunday, April 27th, fans and supporters eagerly await
his decision.
