Singer-songwriter Local Nomad has shared his new single “Tinderella,” a sharp and playful look at dating in the app era. It’s also a milestone release: the first time he’s teamed up with his sister, Jenna Desmond of Babe Club, bringing their voices together on an indie pop track that feels instantly personal.

The song’s roots trace back to a quick voice note Michael Desmond (aka Local Nomad) recorded in 2021, inspired by a connection that started on Tinder. “I had a friend who used to work for MTV; we met on Tinder and just became really good friends,” he recalls. That experience sparked the earliest version of what would become “Tinderella.”

Things came into focus after he crossed paths with Steve Cooper of Spirit Animal in 2020. A writing session followed, with “Tinderella” taking shape as a central idea. When Michael later moved to Charleston, he asked Jenna to join in—turning the project into a true family collaboration. “After years of writing songs, this is the first time Jenna and I have collaborated / released a track together,” he says. “It’s really special to share this moment with her.”

The track zeroes in on the messy, unpredictable rhythm of dating apps—the late-night swiping, the excitement of first meetings, and the brief, sometimes fleeting connections that follow. “The idea of two people meeting for a one-night stand and never crossing paths again felt so topical and intriguing to me,” Michael explains.

“Tinderella” lands as both a modern snapshot and a universal story, balancing wit with honesty.
