There’s something about the California sky, the way the light hits at golden hour, how the air feels heavy with promise, that makes it the perfect setting for transformation. For Italian-born, Long Beach–based bassist and composer Simone Feroci, it’s also the soundtrack to his rebirth. His newest single, “California Forever” (out October 3, 2025), is a sweeping, instrumental pop journey that captures his passage from alcoholism and grief to healing and sobriety.

But don’t expect a typical bass-driven tune. This one sings without words, the electric bass itself becomes the storyteller. Feroci uses the instrument’s rough metallic tones as a mirror to his own scars, while lush orchestral layers paint moments of clarity and hope. The result? A cinematic “bass ballad” that feels both intimate and enormous, like watching the sunrise after a long night you weren’t sure you’d make it through.

The accompanying 4K music video brings that emotional arc to life, featuring three versions of Simone, each representing a stage of healing, moving through conflict, coping, and redemption. Set against stunning aerial views of California, the visual feels like a love letter to resilience.

Feroci’s story reads like a movie script itself: a kid from Parma, Italy, gifted his first bass at 12, who climbed from church stages and punk bands to performing at Abbey Road Studios, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Paladozza Arena, and even Disneyland California’s main stage. Now based in Long Beach, he continues to work with artists worldwide as a bassist, composer, and producer, always chasing honesty in sound.

“California Forever” isn’t just music. It’s motion. It’s driving down the Pacific Coast Highway with the windows down, wind in your face, and a feeling that maybe, just maybe you’ve survived yourself.
