Turning Jane Kick Off a New Era With Attitude

Some records feel like they were made for quiet nights in. Others feel like they were made to be played way too loud with your friends in the car, windows down, no real destination in mind. Turning Jane’s “Let’s Play Doctor” is very much the second kind.

The all girl rock and alt band out of Los Angeles is stepping into a big moment with their upcoming album Queen of Hearts, set to drop June 5, 2026, and if this single is any indication, they are not holding anything back. This is their first release with Pavement Entertainment, and you can feel that fresh energy all over it.

“Let’s Play Doctor” is bold, chaotic in the best way, and just straight up fun. It leans into that messy, carefree energy that makes you want to get ready with your friends, blast music through a speaker that is probably too small for the volume you are pushing, and not care who hears it. There is a confidence to it that feels natural, not forced. What really stands out is how the band balances that edge with melody. The guitars have that slightly grungy bite, but the vocals glide right over it with hooks that stick almost instantly. It is the kind of chorus you catch yourself singing after one listen, even if you do not know all the words yet.

You can tell this is a group that feeds off each other creatively. Nothing feels disconnected. Each part of the song feels like it carries a bit of personality from every member, which gives it that full, lived in feel. It is not just a track, it feels like a moment.

Turning Jane has been building momentum across the Los Angeles scene for a minute now, and their live shows have a reputation for being high energy and impossible to ignore. That same energy translates here. Even through headphones, it feels like you are in the room with them, somewhere between a rehearsal and a packed show. They have already teased what is coming next with “Hot Mess” dropping May 1, and if the title alone is anything to go by, it sounds like they are leaning even further into that unapologetic, chaotic charm.

Queen of Hearts is shaping up to be a project that does not sit still. The band has said themselves they wanted the freedom to explore different influences without being boxed into one lane, and you can already hear that mindset coming through. It is rock, it is alt, it is a little pop leaning when it wants to be, but most importantly, it sounds like them.

“Let’s Play Doctor” feels like the invitation into their world. Loud, a little unpredictable, and a lot of fun. If this is the tone they are setting, June cannot come fast enough.
