When two artists known for pouring raw honesty into their music collide, the result is bound to be unforgettable. That’s exactly what happens with maryjo and Mergui’s new collaboration, a song that feels like someone cracked open their diary, set it to melody, and let the emotions fly.

maryjo, the 24-year-old singer/songwriter with a voice that can pivot from fragile whispers to fearless belts, has a rare ability to turn intrusive thoughts into anthems. Her acoustic-driven style, tinged with humor and self-awareness, resonates with listeners who’ve been through the messiness of love and life. Fans first met her through viral online performances and later on American Idol (Season 19), but now, as an independent artist with hundreds of millions of streams, maryjo is fully stepping into her own lane.

Enter Mergui, a rising global voice in modern pop who’s no stranger to big stages or big emotions. Having opened for Bruno Mars and Maroon 5 to an audience of 65,000, earned nods from Rolling Stone and People Magazine (who named him one of their Emerging Artists of 2024), and collaborated with legends like Diane Warren and David Foster, Mergui has carved out his space as an artist unafraid of vulnerability. His 2025 EP Nobody Really Knows showed his knack for balancing soaring pop ballads with intimate storytelling, with tracks like “On My Mind” racking up millions of streams and even landing a rework from DJ Sam Feldt. Add in his viral cover of “Say Something” (10M+ streams) and a feature in The Sims with his original track “Purple Rose,” and it’s clear Mergui is an artist who knows how to connect.

On their new track together, maryjo takes the lead, delivering a vocal performance so piercing it feels like every lyric was pulled from the deepest corners of her soul. The song captures the ache of holding on to someone even when you know letting go is the only way forward. “LIVING ROOM” (as it’s called) feels like a Polaroid of heartbreak, you can see it, feel it, and almost smell the nostalgia in the air. The production layers moody textures with intimate instrumentation, wrapping around maryjo’s confessional delivery like a second skin.

Then Mergui steps in. His verse doesn’t just complement maryjo’s, it deepens the narrative, offering the other side of the heartbreak. His voice, smooth yet heavy with emotion, carries the ache of someone who still wants the best for the person they’ve lost, even when moving on is the only option. Together, their voices intertwine like two broken halves of the same story, separate, but bound forever by the shared weight of love. A true collaborative effort, going back and forth feeding from each others emotions, making it more real.

“LIVING ROOM” is the kind of song that stops you in your tracks, the one you play late at night when the world is quiet, and you’re face-to-face with your own memories. It’s proof that when maryjo’s diary-like storytelling meets Mergui’s emotive pop world, the result is nothing short of cinematic.
