Some artists arrive with a bang, chasing loud trends and flashy moments. Vinlisa isn’t one of them. Instead, she’s building her career the way her music unfolds—carefully, intimately, and with an honesty that lingers long after the last note.

Born and raised in a culturally rich Cambodian-American household, Vinlisa’s journey to music wasn’t linear. After studying music business at Loyola University in New Orleans, she took the leap to Los Angeles, a move that solidified her decision to fully embrace artistry. That leap paid off: her 2023 debut EP Excuse Me earned more than 105,000 streams on Spotify and introduced her as a rising R&B voice with stories worth telling. Fast forward, and she’s now amassed over 475,000 streams across platforms—proof that her blend of soulful vocals and emotional storytelling resonates deeply.

On August 22, 2025, Vinlisa steps into her next chapter with Until Then, a five-track EP that feels like a diary set to music—soft, intimate, and quietly powerful. Produced by Jack Perry with vocal production from Ianne Lloyd, the project layers soulful vocals over atmospheric beats, resulting in something that feels both old-school and refreshingly current.

The EP’s tracklist—“on the way,” “convo,” “out the blue,” “focused,” and the title track “until then”—reads like chapters of self-reflection. Each song captures a different facet of heartbreak, healing, and self-awareness, stitched together with smooth runs, delicate instrumentation, and Vinlisa’s understated confidence. “Out the blue” gets its polish from mixer Joni Myllari, while Tyler Tisi handled mixing on the rest, ensuring the project feels seamless from start to finish.

If there’s a centerpiece, it’s the lead single “on the way,” released last winter. With hypnotic rhythms and layered harmonies, the track reflects the bittersweet ache of waiting for someone emotionally unavailable. “It’s about the promises people make and the silence that follows when they don’t show up, not just physically, but emotionally,” Vinlisa says. “I wanted to capture that empty space, but also the strength that comes with moving through it.

The title track “until then” pulls the EP together like the closing entry in a journal, capturing the quiet resilience that comes when you’ve been through it, sat with it, and found yourself stronger on the other side.

I hope people walk away from this release feeling like it’s okay to make mistakes and that growth often comes through experience, even when it’s complicated or painful,” Vinlisa shares. “For me, the songs reflect lessons I’ve learned through different relationships over the years. Each one shaped the version of myself I am today. I want listeners to feel their mistakes should be seen as lessons and as a stepping stone towards them becoming the best version of themselves.

And that’s what makes Until Then more than just a collection of songs. It feels like a quiet conversation between artist and listener—soft-spoken yet deeply resonant. The production gives it a lush, timeless R&B glow, while Vinlisa’s writing keeps it grounded in real emotions we all recognize but don’t always admit out loud. It’s the kind of record you can play front to back, no skips, each track bleeding naturally into the next.

With Until Then, Vinlisa doesn’t just prove she belongs in the conversation of today’s R&B; she proves that vulnerability can be its own kind of strength. It’s music that doesn’t shout to get your attention—it whispers, and you lean in.
