Spooky season is creeping in, and Los Angeles-based pop artist Giselle is serving up the perfect soundtrack for it. Her new single “Final Girl” takes horror tropes we’ve all grown up with and flips them on their head, giving us the story not from the masked villain’s perspective, but from the possible Final Girl herself. Instead of rooting for the slasher, Giselle dares us to sit in the shoes of the one running, hiding, and hoping she makes it out alive.

It’s a refreshing twist that feels both playful and eerie. As Giselle puts it herself: “I hope this song and music video can help get people into the Halloween spirit and people can finally feel the true fear of the possible Final Girl! It gives a new perspective and I hope they enjoy the ride but also can find empathy for the possible Final Girl!”

And she’s right. Pop culture often glamorizes horror villains, think Michael Myers, Ghostface, even Jason, and we cheer them on in ways that are kind of absurd when you stop to think about it. Why do we root for the killer in a mask just because he’s “hot” or “mysterious”? “Final Girl” challenges us to reflect on that, all while wrapping us in a moody, spine-tingling pop track that feels perfect for fall.

Musically, Giselle nails the balance between softness and intensity. Her vocals glide with a haunting sweetness, yet carry weight and grit that hook you in. It’s cinematic, chilling, and addictive all at once. Every release from her seems to reveal another side of her artistry, and this one shows just how fearless she is at bending genres and stepping into new narratives.

For those itching to dive deeper into the spooky vibes, the official music video drops October 1st (link here: watch it on YouTube) and if it’s anything like the track, fans can expect equal parts eerie, campy, and thought-provoking.

But Giselle isn’t stopping there. She’s taking “Final Girl” to the stage with some exciting shows lined up this month:

  • October 4th – Baldy Brewing in Upland, CA (her first show there, and it’s free!) – details on her site: itsgisellemusic.com/shows

  • October 24th – A full-on Halloween show at Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles – tickets available here.

With her strong background as a multi-instrumentalist—piano, drums, guitar, violin, and ukulele, plus years of gigging across New York before taking a leap of faith to move to LA, Giselle proves once again that she’s not just another pop voice in the mix. She’s a storyteller, a performer, and above all, an artist who isn’t afraid to have fun with her craft while keeping it deeply intentional.

So as the pumpkins glow and the jump-scares roll in, Giselle has officially claimed her spot on this year’s Halloween playlist. “Final Girl” isn’t just a song, it’s a perspective we didn’t know we needed, wrapped up in the perfect spooky-season anthem.
