Every once in a while, an artist comes along who doesn’t just make music, they translate emotion. With her debut EP For A Reason, Ilianna Viramontes does exactly that. The Nashville-based pop singer-songwriter opens a window into her world, giving listeners a collection of songs that feel as genuine as they are addictive.

At just 25, Ilianna’s story already reads like a dream in progress. From her breakout moment on The Voice, where she impressed Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton with her effortless warmth, to graduating from Berklee College of Music, she’s carried a quiet confidence that now bursts into full color on this project.

For A Reason feels like a mirror for anyone navigating change, love, and the search for purpose. There’s vulnerability, yes, but also light, strength, and a certain magic that makes you want to play it again as soon as it ends. The standout track, “Just Might,” sparkles with that same energy, a gentle push toward believing in yourself, even when the path isn’t clear. It’s soft, yet bold, pop with heart.

Ilianna describes the project as a reminder that everything we go through, even the difficult moments, happens for a reason. And when you hear these songs, you believe her. The lush production by Jonathan Cole wraps around her voice like sunlight through an open window, creating a sound that feels both fresh and timeless.

This isn’t just a debut, it’s a beginning. For A Reason marks the arrival of an artist ready to claim her place in pop, armed with sincerity, melody, and heart.

We got a chance to interview Ilianna and ask her about the project...

“For A Reason” feels like a journal come to life, was there a specific moment or realization that sparked the whole project?

"I’m not sure if it was really just one specific moment or realization. It really was like my journal come to life - I write every day and my music is based primarily on my real life. It was more of a sequence of moments/life events that caused me to start writing these songs without even thinking about it.  I don’t think I started this project with the intention of starting it - it kind of just happened out of necessity."

Your single “Just Might” feels so empowering! When you wrote it, were you speaking to a specific version of yourself, or to anyone standing at a crossroads in life?

"I think it was definitely speaking to that exact version of myself when I was writing it. I was in the midst of feelings that were really scary but also really beautiful and exciting at the same time and writing this song was at the peak of these feelings. This song was definitely the most fun for me to write out of the whole EP. I feel like it just came out of me."

You’ve gone from performing on The Voice to graduating from Berklee and now dropping your debut EP, what’s one thing that’s surprised you the most about your journey so far?

"Something that has surprised me the most about this journey so far is how quick it can change from highs to lows. A career in music is definitely very challenging but also very rewarding when you accomplish something. Music is so intertwined with my life and also so vulnerable and personal, so it gets hard to navigate having separation from work life and regular life. When one feels down, so does the other and vice versa. The highs are really high and the lows can be very low. One day you’re feeling amazing and encouraged and inspired and creative and others you feel the complete opposite - but you just have to get up and keep going and show up every day which is the most challenging part of this career in my opinion. Showing up  and trying even when it sucks or when it’s hard or discouraging."

If each song on For A Reason represents a part of you that you wish to unveil, what was the hardest song to record and why?

"The hardest song to record on the EP was probably How to Forget. That song is the only co-write on the EP and I feel that it took a while for it to find its full potential sound when we started recording it. It went through about 10 different versions which is crazy to say. I also wrote it at a sad and difficult part of my life when I was going through my first long term breakup hence the topic of the song. I absolutely love where How to Forget ended up but it was definitely a journey to get there to say the least."
