When you talk about acts that bend genres and refuse to be boxed in, Pink Dreamz has to be part of the conversation. What started in high school as two friends, rapper/producer My Dreamz and producer Pink Beatz, trading beats and rhymes has evolved into one of the most unique voices in East Coast rap today. Now carried forward by My Dreamz and what he calls “the clones,” Pink Dreamz is pushing boundaries with a sound that’s equal parts rap, funk, indie, and pure originality.
This year alone, the crew has dropped two standout singles: “Master of the Funk” and “Supreme Being”, tracks that both showcase just how versatile Pink Dreamz has become.
Master of the Funk
With its brass-heavy production and live guitar accents, this record feels like a time machine straight into the golden funk era, while still keeping its hip-hop heart beating strong. “I wanted to make something that would sound close to James Brown funk,” says My Dreamz. “When it comes to the lyrics, I’ve always been impressed with punchlines and just listening back to a song to pick up on something new every time. That is my ambition on a lot of songs. The theme of this song is education, having a thirst for knowledge, and sometimes a will to remain a student. You have to keep yourself hungry to be the best.”
It’s funky, clever, and rooted in growth, exactly the kind of record that keeps listeners coming back to decode its layers.
Supreme Being
If “Master of the Funk” feels like a groove, “Supreme Being” hits like a burst of energy. The story behind it is just as wild: “There is a video of me swimming at a beach and as I jumped into a wave, a dolphin jumped out of the water in the distance. I watched it on repeat and just had this feeling that I was in-tune with the universe,” recalls My Dreamz. That cosmic moment sparked the track’s title, and the song itself leans into an upbeat, electronic-tinged beat with vocals that are sharp, competitive, and full of fire. It’s My Dreamz vs. himself, pushing harder, faster, and sharper every bar.
Both songs carry a freeing, laid-back energy, instrumentals that lift you up, paired with the grounded, stern voice of My Dreamz delivering sharp storytelling. It’s a balance that feels refreshing in today’s scene. But the story doesn’t end there. A new Pink Dreamz album is officially on the way before the end of 2025. Even more, 2026 will mark ten years since Pink Dreamz’s first mixtape release, a milestone moment for the rap duo turned movement.
And if you’re wondering how hands-on My Dreamz is with the process, the answer is: entirely. The next album will be completely produced, written, and performed by him—an independent vision built from the ground up.
At the heart of Pink Dreamz is resilience. “I hope what our long-time friends take away from these new releases is that we are still here,” says My Dreamz. “I hope people see the adversity in the dream (or dreamz) and the will to never give up. If I can inspire one person in the world to apply that to whatever they have going on, mission accomplished. For this next album, I’m focused on beating my best of the best. For new listeners, you’ve really come in at a really great time.”
That spirit, mixing funk, fire, and a refusal to quit is what makes Pink Dreamz such a standout in the hip-hop landscape. With ten years on the horizon and a brand-new album just around the corner, the next chapter is about to be the biggest one yet.
