There’s something special about when an artist manages to blur nostalgia with the freshness of something brand new. That’s exactly what Paitra has done. Rooted in the golden glow of ‘70s rock and folk but dressed up with dreamy modern textures, she’s carving out a sound that feels like both yesterday and tomorrow at once.

Originally from a small town in Northern Ontario, Paitra grew up soaking in the storytelling and harmonies of Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and even the raw grit of Zeppelin. Those timeless influences stayed with her as she moved to Toronto, where the city’s energy pushed her to experiment and expand her craft. After years of band life, she decided to step into her own lane in 2023, debuting her solo project and beginning the slow build toward her first EP.

That journey took a powerful turn when she traveled to Los Angeles and collaborated with Tyler Fogerty (Hearty Har, John Fogerty). Writing and recording against the surreal backdrop of California wildfires, Paitra began shaping the body of work that would set the tone for this new chapter.

The EP’s first single, “Too Stuck (In My Head)”, signaled that shift. What followed — the shimmering double release “Love Calls” and “I’m Your Answer” — showed just how versatile her songwriting is. Each track bends genres, floating between psychedelic dream-pop and indie alternative, yet still anchored by her distinct voice and deeply personal lyricism.

Her latest release continues in that spirit, with Paitra herself describing it best:

“This song is about surrendering to the unknown and trusting the process. We’ve all been in a situation where we feel uncertain, nervous, maybe a little scared… and that’s a universal feeling.”

Listening feels like standing in a quiet field on an autumn afternoon — soft, golden, and weightless. Her voice drifts like a flower swaying in the wind while the instrumentation carries you deeper into her world. It’s vulnerable but comforting, delicate yet steady.

This isn’t just another indie record. It’s music that moves like memory — blurred at the edges, dreamlike, but with a core truth you can hold onto. Paitra is proving that when you mix timeless roots with fearless experimentation, you get something worth surrendering to.
